Event Highlights

The maiden conference highlighted women and children’s vulnerability in climate change and their roles in climate action. This resulted in communique actions signed by key stakeholders including the United Nations Office in Ghana. Communique actions cut across themes including Gender Inclusion in Climate Action, Climate Education & Policy, Financing Green Initiatives, Indigenous Knowledge & Local Solutions, Food Security and Health.

Event Highlights

“Trade can, and must, be part of the solutions sought, despite the widely held belief that trade is one of the causes of climate issues. Trade policy decisions can improve the lives of women and children in a very practical way: access to clean cook stoves and non-polluting cooking fuels through trade can significantly improve their quality of life and health. AFRIWOCC 2023 is asking the right questions, and the WTO is ready to work with African nations to provide answers.”
