Accra, Ghana – Tuesday, August 12, 2025
The 2025 edition of the Africa Women and Children Conference (AFRIWOCC) is set to take place on October 6–7, 2025, at the Labadi Beach Hotel, Accra, Ghana, under the theme:
“Young Voices, Innovative Ideas, Greater Impact for Africa.”
Building on Success
Following the success of its maiden edition in 2023, AFRIWOCC has solidified its reputation as Africa’s leading platform championing the interests of women, youth, and children in climate leadership, policy influence, and cross-sectoral collaboration. The 2023 conference brought together key stakeholders from across the continent and beyond, culminating in the adoption of a six-point communiqué on climate change mitigation and adaptation.
AFRIWOCC 2025 – Driving Inclusive Climate Action
AFRIWOCC 2025 seeks to build on this momentum by driving bold and inclusive actions toward a climate-resilient Africa. This year’s event will highlight the unique role of young people in rallying communities, shaping policies, and advancing equitable, sustainable, and future-driven climate solutions.
Africa’s Climate Reality
Despite contributing the least to global carbon emissions, Africa suffers disproportionately from the impacts of climate change—through floods, droughts, food insecurity, and displacement. For young Africans and women, these are not distant threats but lived experiences.
With over 60% of its population under the age of 25, Africa is the youngest continent in the world. This youthful majority holds immense potential to transform Africa’s development trajectory. From leading community-based climate responses to driving innovations in technology, agriculture, and renewable energy, young Africans are already shaping local and global solutions.
Recognizing Africa’s Youth Dividend
AFRIWOCC 2025 acknowledges this demographic dividend by placing youth and women at the heart of its agenda, affirming their role not just as future leaders, but as key actors in Africa’s present and sustainable future.
Key Objectives of AFRIWOCC 2025
The conference will seek to:
1. Promote inclusive climate governance and policy engagement
2. Empower youth and women to lead climate innovation
3. Facilitate continental dialogue on climate finance, adaptation, and resilience
4. Foster partnerships that translate ideas into impactful action
